Starfire from Teen Titans by Pramit

Like I say, I always liked Adam Hughes’ take on this character. The classic is classic. Recently there’ve been many other versions.

One particular controversy was about Scott Lobdell’s interpretation of a veryyyy sexy Starfire who talks Sex in a Red Hood and the Outlaws comic. I never understood why was it even a controversy. Children don’t actually see sex as sex. Before the age 12-13, kids only see skimpy dresses as just short costumes. If you don’t say the whole thing what sex is, there’re chances they won’t understand what it is until they grow up.

I like Scott Lobdell’s writing. The guy’s more of a fun writer but also takes the characters seriously. Whatever I’ve seen and read from his pen, has been good and never stupidly preachy. I’m sort of a writer too and I do understand patterns and bad writing.

Real bad writing is going overly preachy, doing same stunts again n again, repetitive gimmicks and having no plot or character behaviour idea. And till now, I’ve seen Pro comic writers fleeing away from such things, including Lobdell. I see some of such stupid traits in Marvel Disney films, which makes me think- “If they can overlook stupid writing in Marvel films, why do they complain about each and every thing in comics?”

I think, the answer lies in what the critics believe they can achieve. In recent politically agitated climate, we’ve already seen how politically charged artwork gets the artists famous and sometime lands them huge jobs. I think, the same goes for these SJW critics. They believe that if they show this SJW behaviour, some similar minded DC/Marvel/ Major publisher editor will come and hire them, if they get famous. And YES, that DOES happen. I’ve nothing against your struggles to make money/ success. What I’m against is that you’re ruining others’ works for your success.

Well. let’s hope this idiocy stops soon.Bye!
